IFA by Lopesan Hotels - Hybrid Visual Worlds from Photography and AI
Extending existing hotel photography through AI, character development, and high-end postproduction — without reshooting.
The goal of this project was to expand an existing hotel photo production without initiating a new shoot.
Together with the marketing team at the hotel group’s Berlin headquarters, new guest profiles were developed for two different hotel concepts.
For the Best Ages hotel, authentic characters were created to represent the target audience and integrated consistently into existing scenes. In parallel, a family was developed for a family-oriented hotel and placed across different hotel environments.
The objective was to create new visual content while preserving the original photographic character of the production. AI was not intended to feel synthetic, but rather to blend naturally into the existing imagery.
The focus was on realism, visual continuity, and emotional authenticity.
This approach demonstrates how existing photography can be extended through AI in order to create additional content without the need for new productions or reshoots.

facial expressions
A key part of the character creation process was the development of realistic facial expressions.
Human communication is largely driven by subtle changes in facial muscles, micro-expressions, and eye movement. To ensure that AI-generated characters appear natural and emotionally believable, a controlled range of expressions was developed for each character.
Using the in-house tool, these expressions were stabilized and added to the character set cards as additional reference states. This allowed the same characters to appear in multiple scenes while maintaining both identity consistency and emotional variation.
